Short Picture filled posts:
Livingingraceland has a wonderful set of photos from a trip to Red Rock Canyon, NV. Check out the cross-bedding on pictures #4,5 plus some interesting compositional color changes on #2 and 7. Geology is cool!
Psalm & Picture Post- Rhythms of Grace has a wonderful slideshow of nature in her Texas area: An Evening Walk
Lory Lynn Sullivan’s Winged Wonders has some lovely close ups of the residents of a butterfly house.
This one is a video post for the older set. I’m not into modern music much, but with the sound down low toward the end, the message (and cool CG effects) had me crying with gratitude to our Creator God who isn’t even close to being done creating yet: Beautiful Things shared by Hippopotamusususus.
Serious and/or longer posts:
Pastor Adam Solorio has a short post on his thoughts from when “I Hit a Bird“
My mind raced as I began to consider that while God saw the bird fall He saw me keep driving. He saw me sleep and wake up in the morning. He watches me every hour of every day. He has numbered, according to scripture, the hairs on my head. More amazing than that, He values me more than those sparrows. He sees them, but He loves me!
From “evangelicals now” blog: Unapologetic Christianity from Chris Sinkinson: Alone in the universe? Will we ever find life on other planets, and, if we do, does it change our view of God and ourselves? Thoughtful stuff!
“If my people” has taken on the whole issue of PROVING CREATION AND REFUTING EVOLUTION in just one post. The amazing thing is they took lest than 3,000 words to do it. Well footnoted, so you can check it out for yourself.
“Word.” takes a thoughtful look at the changes we have in our thinking when we really remember who Jesus is in John 1 “The Beginning”.
Pretty overwhelming stuff. I like being overwhelmed by it because it means that I have allowed my view of Jesus to become too narrow. Sometimes we start to think of Jesus as simply a teacher, or prophet, or miracle worker… but He was so much more than that.
Genesis 1: God is Full by “Grow and go with God” has a very interesting theme. It is the idea that God creates and gives to us because He is more than enough all by Himself.
Someone who is full in and of Himself does not need to focus on getting his needs met, because he does not need anything. God is able to give out of abundance, not out of lack. God is life and He is the ultimate life giver.
Here’s one you could pass on to your skeptical friends: Made In ????? at wagswordsblog. Like the rest of us who follow Christ Jesus, the author makes the assumption that there are only two choices: empty pointlessness or the God of the Bible. Skeptics aren’t going to want to accept that without a lot more clarification, but the full reality is even more unacceptable to them. The truth is we either follow Satan down in his rebellion against God (this includes all forms of religion or non-religious belief denying Jesus’ redemption), or humble ourselves under the God of the Bible!
Jesus says to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but through me. If you all had known me, you would have known my Father also: and from now on you know him, and have seen him. John 14:6,7
