Since the first of the year I’ve been trying to figure out what direction would be the best for my ministry/career in the creation science field. This is stuff I’m passionate about and have have no problem pouring my time and resources into without getting paid.
But, I do want to fulfill my original goal of writing to have extra money for charitable giving, taking my husband with me to visit Israel and saving up for short-term mission trips for my growing family.
I’ve been following Jeff Goin’s writers blog for a while now and was able to attend a free webinar he recommended this morning. God was already preparing me for what was shared there. Something had warned me that blogging as often as I do is not the best use of my time. Posting less often and finding other ways to get the word out is going to work better.
Perhaps only my fellow bloggers will understand how painful this is. There is a huge amount of satisfaction in writing something, putting it out there and having people “like” it within minutes. Working on this blog has been the most enjoyable endeavor I’ve done outside of caring for my babies.
So, what’s my plan now? Well, I’m certainly not dropping you! I’ll probably just have to be more disciplined in choosing a topic to cover once or twice a week. I’m also going to ask you what you find the most exciting in the field of creation science so I can bring what you’re looking for while respecting your time.
I’ll try to remind myself that it’s way more exciting to get a highly anticipated and impatiently longed for e-mail than it is to get one that comes all the time and becomes ordinary by default….but it still hurts to think about!
I’m also going to stay as active as ever on facebook. Probably even posting more little bits to keep from exploding as ideas hit me!
At the same time, I’ll be searching out a topic to study in depth and begin working on a full length book. I’ll also be checking into the guest blogging world to get the word about my site out to as many people as possible.
Here’s where you can help. I’m going to post a poll to see what areas of creation science are the most exciting to you and/or the most helpful in strengthening your faith in Jesus the Creator. Everything is thrilling to me, so I have a hard time picking just one to focus on.
It would also be lovely to pick your brain about the most influential, popular bloggers/formats for me to look into. I’ve been so busy here and with my family/church that there are only a few blogs I’m already following.
This is an exciting time to live in. The playing field for getting your message out is incredibly level and I’m going to try to take advantage of that. Just, change is rough and doing something new is always intimidating.
Please drop me a comment with any suggestions you have and…
Thanks for listening!

I have three primary Weblogs, and two of them suffer from lack of attention because I cannot do as much as I want. Real life interferes with Internet time. And I want to watch “Columbo” on Netflix. So, yes, be selective and don’t knock yourself out. You may want to do what several of us are doing: When we see something useful on another site, write a short introduction, put a couple of paragraphs from the article, and then a link to continue reading. It shows the world you’re still around and interested, and helps with the creative urges. That’s my two grotzits’ worth.
Thanks for sharing.
Although time constraints are a part of what I’m changing, it has more to do with making every post here extra special. Since I’d been spending about 20 hours a week working on posts here, I’ll still have enough time to research a good post or two a week and do lots more.
One of the best things about working in creation science is all the camaraderie. I appreciate yours!
