[Episode 29] What makes humans, and me, important? This episode is all about answering this bedrock question. How did God show our unique position in creation by what He told us in Genesis 1? We explore some of the many gifts God gave us to help us fill our place on earth. Then, we hear a little more about the part of our body we see the most- our skin!
If you enjoy the show, please leave us a rating (which takes 5 seconds) or review (2 minutes, tops). Thanks!
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Genesis 1:26-28
Today’s podcast breaks down these super important verses and explores them just a little.
I ‘happened’ to receive a review copy of a new book put out by Genesis Apologetics this past week, and what was it on? Disputing Human Evolution. I’ll finish it up soon, but the first section I’ve gotten to so far was full of details to use for the podcast.
Thank you, God!
More Verses
My article There’s Only One Reason Any Human Being if Valuable shares a few more verses about how much God values us starting from today’s verse.
Chimps ‘Worship’
Nature.com Chimpanzee accumulative stone throwing Feb. 29,2016: “The ritualized behavioural display and collection of artefacts at particular locations observed in chimpanzee accumulative stone throwing may have implications for the inferences that can be drawn from archaeological stone assemblages and the origins of ritual sites.”
Our Hands
This is one of my favorite videos from the Institute for Creation Research. Who doesn’t love to see how cool our bodies are, and our hands take the cake! Just 2 minutes. You won’t want to miss it:
Language
“Language sets people apart from all other creatures.
Every known human society has had a language and though some nonhumans may be able to communicate with one another in fairly complex ways, none of their communication systems begins to approach language in its ability to convey information.
Nor is the transmission of complex and varied information such an integral part of the everyday lives of other creatures.
Nor do other communication systems share many of the design features of human language, such as the ability to communicate about events other than in the here and now.
But it is difficult to conceive of a human society without a language.” Mark Aronoff, Department of Linguistics, Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY
60% of USA Doctors Believe God Must Have Made People
Many of them think He used evolution, but over half the medical doctors in the whole country don’t believe chance could have developed our bodies.
Pastor Bob Enyart has an exciting page discussing this and the many other scientists who don’t accept Darwin’s version of how things came to be.
