The danger we used to face when everyone around assumed God was the Creator:
And so many think incorrectly that everything was created by the Creator in the beginning as it is seen, that not only the mountains, valleys, and waters, but also various types of minerals occurred together with the rest of the world, and therefore it is said that it is unnecessary to investigate the reasons why they differ in their internal properties and their locations. Such considerations are very dangerous for the growth of all the sciences, and hence for natural knowledge of the Earth, particularly the art of mining, though it is very easy for those clever people to be philosophers, having learnt by heart the three words ‘God so created’ and to give them in reply in place of all reasons.

About the Layers of the Earth and other Works on Geology (1757), trans. A. P. Lapov (1949)
God did make all the elements at the beginning, but not necessarily in the states and places they are now. There was a major catastrophe that made a huge difference in the state of the world. Plus, God made the world in a logical and orderly way for us to be able to study.
Believing in the Creator God should never be used as an excuse for laziness!
Jesus said, “Continue to ask, and God will give to you. Continue to search, and you will find. Continue to knock, and the door will open for you. Yes, whoever continues to ask will receive. Whoever continues to look will find. And whoever continues to knock will have the door opened for them.” Matthew 7:7,8 Easy-to-read Version
