In him was life; and the life was the light of men. John 1:4

CS4K-Light-thru-TreesEver thought about what this verse has to do with Creation Week? And, in case this seems too “spiritual” to count, Isaiah and Revelation help us see even more about the light that is in Jesus.

The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. Isaiah 60:19

And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. Revelation 21:23

Who is that Lamb? Jesus! Revelation 13:8

And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. Revelation 22:5

Doesn’t that look a lot like a dragon if you add fiery eyes and a flaming mouth!

I was shocked and delighted to realize I’d missed a key verse in God’s description of this creature:

Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire. Job 41:30

George Washington Carver

George Washington Carver.orgGeorge Washington Carver in his lab: In addition to his work on agricultural experimentation his other accomplishments included improvement of racial relations, mentoring children, poetry, painting, and religion. His example of hard work, maintaining a positive mental attitude, and thirst for good education was infectious for all who knew him. His humility, genuine interest in others, good nature, thrift, and generosity was evident and admired widely.

The National Peanut Board has a short biography of Carver and mentions some of the 300 plus products he developed using them. The links they include are quite fascinating. In fact, the only trouble Charity had with this report was deciding what there was room to include!
