Parents: Believe in Special Creation if you must, but don’t pass it on to your kids!

Yesterday this video made the rounds on the Creation facebook pages.  It is not from a Creationist site and this guy is certainly not a Creationist himself.  Have a look for yourself:

Notice how he says that it’s OK with him if you old people continue to believe your misguided worldview, but don’t hurt society by teaching it to your kids.

If I were an Israeli or German, Indian, I would be hurt by his Ameri-centric view of science.

Does that look simple to you?

My brother is a mechanical engineer and I asked him if he used evolution to do his science.  His immediate response was, “no, that’s for biology.”

The world is more complicated without evolution, and Creationism is “self inconsistent”?   Compared to what? Evolution?  I note that he didn’t give any examples of where Creationism would get in the way and where consistent Evolutionary thinking would point researchers in a useful direction.

Notice that they need VOTERS that believe Evolution.  Can you guess why that would be?  Because if we believe in a Creator God that we are accountable to and that people are more special than animals, then our vote will be harder to control.  For example: We won’t be for euthanasia.   We won’t want to holding society back because people are singlehandedly overheating the world.  We also won’t be for forcibly limiting population growth.

When he said it was fine to continue believing if we want to, but not passing our belief on to the next generation, it reminded me of some other groups saying the same thing.  Check these out:

Persecution of Christians during the USSR: The deprivation of parental rights for teaching religion to their children, a ban on the presence of children at church services (beginning in 1961 with the Baptists and then extended to the Orthodox in 1963) and the administration of the Eucharist to children over the age of four.

China: it is illegal to teach Children about Jesus until they are 18 

Sweden is going to make it illegal to talk about God outside of Religion class and “Björklund told reporters that the Intelligent Design theory would be banned from Swedish biology classes even as a proposed theory.”

And of course we are well aware of the desire Evolutionary Atheists have to stop children from hearing about the possibility of an Intelligent Designer.  “Public schools shouldn’t teach Intelligent Design for the very same reason that they shouldn’t teach flat-earth or Creationist theory.  Because it is nonsense…We know—just as surely as we know that the earth revolves around the sun—that evolution has spawned earth’s wonderful diversity.  We have an obligation to tell our students the truth, not whatever a group of well-meaning but misguided intelligent design theorists think we should tell them.”

Now, how will we react to this news?  Cover our children’s ears and buy a ranch in the middle of Montana?  Hardly!

Is God real?  Is He powerful?  Can our children be deceived against their will?  There is no reason to worry, but there is a lot of reason to PRAY, prepare ourselves for the battle and be honest with our children.  My kids will know more about Evolution than any of their peers by the time the graduate high school.  They will just also know the flaws, problems and faulty predictions that go along with Evolutionary thinking.

The scariest thing for me as a parent is that each of my children has free will.  I called my engineer brother last night and learned he has turned theistic evolutionist.  That hurts, but he has free will just like I do.  If your kids are more interested in being liked by everyone than they are the truth, they have a good chance of ending up like that, too, whenever they get out in the world (which will happen).  I have a couple of young ones like that with those tendencies in my house now!

So am I worried?  No, because Jesus is more powerful and I’m teaching my children as much about the Enemy’s [Satan, never people] tactics and lies as I can.  There are no guarantees, but there is a lot of hope- as long as they belong to Jesus, it’s all going to be alright in 100 years!
