Indoctrination and Child Abuse

STOP childhood INDOCTRINATION!
It’s CHILD ABUSE!
~Ned in an email to my website

Indoctrinate: : to teach (someone) to fully accept the ideas, opinions, and beliefs of a particular group and to not consider other ideas, opinions, and beliefs

Child Abuse has been defined as an act, or failure to act, on the part of a parent or caretaker that results in the death, serious physical or emotional harm, S*xual Abuse, or exploitation of a child, or which places the child in an imminent risk of serious harm.

Every parent teaches their children by example, word, and default environment the ideas, opinions, and beliefs. This is universal, even those who try to let their children choose freely can’t avoid exposing their children to their beliefs. It only becomes indoctrination when the second half of the equation is added. Refusal to expose them to differing opinions and beliefs is what takes the ordinary education of the next generation into the realm of indoctrination.

The facts would contest this is far more true of atheistic humanists and their constant fight to prevent children from hearing any other viewpoint than their own. How many humanists take their children to the Creation Museum or even borrow an intelligent design book from the library?

Sure, in years past there was a school of thought recommending Christian parents to only expose their kids to the Bible and believers’ materials. But this no longer the case. Very few parents I’ve interacted with hold this position. Certainly not me!

As a conscientious parent I educate my children in the area of religion fully. They know the basic tenets of Animism, Buddhism, Islam, Atheism, and Hinduism as well as Christianity. It is important for Jesus’ little ones to know the ideas held by others so they can be wise and harmless.

We read, watch, and visit many examples of alternate view points. By the time my kids are grown, they will understand the foundational principles of evolutionary thought better than the vast majority of evolutionists.

The truth has nothing to fear from the lie. The lie has much to fear from exposure to truth.

As for the charge of abuse (which I receive regularly), I find this particular accusation so out of proportion to reality as to revolting. Some of my family members have endured many forms of child abuse from which they suffer to this day. I’ve worked with many more childhood abuse survivors as they seek to establish a healthy life for themselves decades later.

To put this in the same class as what I teach my children is irresponsibly demeaning to true victims of abuse.

Parents, this kind of accusation is becoming more common. At this point the accusers have no power to do more than insult us, but that doesn’t mean it will remain that way.

You can also expect your children to hear they were abused by you as they enter the secular world. It will be wise to give them answers.

Parents: Believe in Special Creation if you must, but don’t pass it on to your kids!

Yesterday this video made the rounds on the Creation facebook pages.  It is not from a Creationist site and this guy is certainly not a Creationist himself.  Have a look for yourself:

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHbYJfwFgOU]

Notice how he says that it’s OK with him if you old people continue to believe your misguided worldview, but don’t hurt society by teaching it to your kids.

If I were an Israeli or German, Indian, I would be hurt by his Ameri-centric view of science.

Horizontal gene transfer (HGT), also Lateral g...
Does that look simple to you?

My brother is a mechanical engineer and I asked him if he used evolution to do his science.  His immediate response was, “no, that’s for biology.”

The world is more complicated without evolution, and Creationism is “self inconsistent”?   Compared to what? Evolution?  I note that he didn’t give any examples of where Creationism would get in the way and where consistent Evolutionary thinking would point researchers in a useful direction.

Check out this list of Creation believing scientists to see how incompatable Creation is with science.

Notice that they need VOTERS that believe Evolution.  Can you guess why that would be?  Because if we believe in a Creator God that we are accountable to and that people are more special than animals, then our vote will be harder to control.  For example: We won’t be for euthanasia.   We won’t want to holding society back because people are singlehandedly overheating the world.  We also won’t be for forcibly limiting population growth.

When he said it was fine to continue believing if we want to, but not passing our belief on to the next generation, it reminded me of some other groups saying the same thing.  Check these out:

Persecution of Christians during the USSR: The deprivation of parental rights for teaching religion to their children, a ban on the presence of children at church services (beginning in 1961 with the Baptists and then extended to the Orthodox in 1963) and the administration of the Eucharist to children over the age of four.

China: it is illegal to teach Children about Jesus until they are 18

Sweden is going to make it illegal to talk about God outside of Religion class and “Björklund told reporters that the Intelligent Design theory would be banned from Swedish biology classes even as a proposed theory.”

And of course we are well aware of the desire Evolutionary Atheists have to stop children from hearing about the possibility of an Intelligent Designer.  “Public schools shouldn’t teach Intelligent Design for the very same reason that they shouldn’t teach flat-earth or Creationist theory.  Because it is nonsense…We know—just as surely as we know that the earth revolves around the sun—that evolution has spawned earth’s wonderful diversity.  We have an obligation to tell our students the truth, not whatever a group of well-meaning but misguided intelligent design theorists think we should tell them.”

Now, how will we react to this news?  Cover our children’s ears and buy a ranch in the middle of Montana?  Hardly!

Is God real?  Is He powerful?  Can our children be deceived against their will?  There is no reason to worry, but there is a lot of reason to PRAY, prepare ourselves for the battle and be honest with our children.  My kids will know more about Evolution than any of their peers by the time the graduate high school.  They will just also know the flaws, problems and faulty predictions that go along with Evolutionary thinking.

The scariest thing for me as a parent is that each of my children has free will.  I called my engineer brother last night and learned he has turned theistic evolutionist.  That hurts, but he has free will just like I do.  If your kids are more interested in being liked by everyone than they are the truth, they have a good chance of ending up like that, too, whenever they get out in the world (which will happen).  I have a couple of young ones like that with those tendencies in my house now!

So am I worried?  No, because Jesus is more powerful and I’m teaching my children as much about the Enemy’s [Satan, never people] tactics and lies as I can.  There are no guarantees, but there is a lot of hope- as long as they belong to Jesus, it’s all going to be alright in 100 years!

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness [seized] it not. John 1:1-5

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.  Matthew 24:24

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33

And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.  I John 4:3-6
