So, I couldn’t think of anything to write about this week and was planning to dip into my archive again (it’s been hard to type one-handed while holding my newborn the past 3 months), but first did my usually swing by facebook this morning. While there I ran into an article on “Homo naledi” by someone I didn’t recognize and decided to check it out* c.
Dr. Todd Wood graduated from Liberty University, one of the most openly Young Earth Creationist schools in the world. He helps edit the Journal of Creation Theology and Science along with Answers in Genesis’ Dr. Georgia Purdom (go lady creationists!). He also started his own ministry, the Core Academy of Science.
This mini group is up to a lot:
- They do their own research
- Offer videos (the one on the Bunny Kind is a slightly adorable 8 minute intro to the idea of how creationists sort Kinds)
- Write the usual articles, but on fun topics like what shapes have church leaders thought Noah’s Ark was in
- Run a facebook page that shares about their in person science events
- They’ll help develop a personalized online seminar for Christian school teachers
- And there are mini courses for homeschoolers available to purchase
Perhaps the most exciting thing for me to realize is they provide some of the science courses for SchoolhouseTeachers.com. I’m planning to use this service for the upcoming school year because they offer a huge number of courses for all grades at one reasonable price. Not sure if we’ll use the courses Dr. Todd Wood’s group puts together this year, it looks like they are for high school and my brood isn’t quite there yet.
(BTW If you decide to join them through my link, I get a commission. I decided to publicly recommend them because all their science courses are from a Young Earth Creation perspective!)
Still more Creationists!
Back to that first article I ran into on Dr. Wood’s blog:
I quickly realized this guy talking about fossilized skulls was a Biblical creationist when he referenced the opinions of the big three creationist organizations. Not only that, he listed two more I hadn’t run into yet.
Wort und Wissen is all in German, so I’m adding it to my Other Languages collection.
The Geoscience Institute is a Seventh Day Adventist group that’s been studying science from a Young Earth Creationist perspective since 1958!
It’s a big world out there and always a thrill to find there are more people bold and humble enough to speak out for our Creator God and science.
Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him. I Kings 19:18
