Aldrin poses on the Moon, allowing Armstrong t...

Between VBS and other real life things I don’t have time to write up a proper post, but I’ve run into so many good articles on facebook that I don’t feel guilty! These things aren’t secrets for just “those in the know”, you can follow them too if your family uses facebook, or go straight to their websites to keep up to date.

Creation Revolution had an article that immediately caught my eye: Our Poisonous Moon.  Well, it’s not exactly poisonous, just dangerous like asbestos!

Creation Ministries International (CMI) has a more technical article on new studies of the planet Mercury’s magnetic crust.  It’s a little tough reading, but I like that it points out how what we are finding is confusing and contrary for Uniformitarians but was predicted by YEC geologists over 20 years ago!

CMI also has an article for you airplane and bird buffs called Fancy flying from advanced aeronautics: the design of swifts and jet fighters.  I’ve liked planes since my dad worked at Wright-Pat near the National Museum of the Air Force in Dayton, OH.  I was little enough then to climb on the big smooth tire in the first wing.  I don’t think you’re allowed to do that, but nobody stopped my dad from putting my brother and me up there!  The article doesn’t mention whether the Stealth Bomber designers copied the Swift’s wings on purpose, but the fact that they came to the same design anyway just shows how smart the ideas are.  Bird lovers will enjoy learning about the Swift’s brains and Dino fans will be interested in practicality of whether dinos turned into flying birds.

Homework

Now, for all us parents, I found these two sites to help us out:

CMI has a special section called the Parent’s Corner.  Although it has lots of helps especially for Home Schoolers, it’s for all of us who want to pass on our faith and guide our children into all of God’s Truth.  Checking around, it looks like they could use some help fleshing out some subjects, but I was very impressed with their list of articles under the Encouragement section.  We can use all the help we can find!

Although it isn’t “creation” oriented per se, I’ve found the site Raising Godly Children to be a daily source of encouragement for me.  They have a printable poster of 31 Biblical Virtues to actively pass on to our kids.  Their #1 choice is to focus on Salvation.  It’s easy to lose sight of that reality in the busyness of molding good citizens and students, but Jesus spoke the truth here:

Sunbeam-castle

Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.  For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?  Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. Mark 8:34-38

The reverse is also true, if we aren’t ashamed of Jesus, He will be proud of us when He comes in His glory!
